Purpose: To assist School District of Philadelphia Office of Environmental Management & Services with implementing a new five-year sustainability management plan entitled GreenFutures. This is an exciting opportunity to work directly with School District staff and outside partners, including nonprofits and City agencies, to build a more sustainable school system and City. This opportunity is available to rising juniors and rising seniors.

OUR VISION…is for all children to have a great school, close to where they live. This includes providing well-resourced, clean, comfortable, healthy, and safe school environments conducive to teaching and learning.

The GreenFutures’ sustainability plan supports the District’s guiding document, Action Plan v3.0 and provides a clear framework that contributes to the creation of global citizens, promotes cleaner green career pathways and will equip the future leaders and decision makers with the knowledge and skills needed for a changing world.

District staff, stakeholders and community partners routinely meet to implement sixty-five specific and measurable actions that contribute to the attainment of five targets related to the following focus areas:
